GRUPPETTO · HOW TO PLAY

Draft fantasy
cycling.

Build a cycling squad and compete against friends throughout the season. Each rider can belong to only one team in your league.

01 / BEFORE THE SEASON

Bid to build your squad.

Start with 1,000 coins to build a squad of up to 25 riders. A new pool of riders opens for bidding each day during the preseason draft.

Place private bids on the riders you want. When the round closes, the highest bidder wins each rider and pays their full bid. Everyone else pays nothing.

Your remaining coins carry into the next round. You have 14 daily rounds to balance expensive favourites with riders for the rest of the calendar.

Add riders to your private wishlist to help shape future pools. A wishlist is not a bid: you still need to bid when a rider becomes available.

Enable JavaScript to try the practice draft. Place private bids; the highest bidder wins and only the winner pays.

More about the draft

Fourteen days to build your squad

Each player starts with 1,000 coins and can sign up to 25 cyclists. Your budget carries over between rounds. The admin sets one starting date and hour, and 14 daily auctions follow automatically, all finishing before the first race. Each auction closes when the next opens; the last closes 14 days after the start. Deadlines use the timezone chosen when scheduling. Windows are normally 24 hours; a daylight-saving change can make one 23 or 25 hours. Aim for 25 cyclists to give yourself options across the calendar; a full squad is not guaranteed. You can enter a race with one to five riders.

Prepare your private wishlist

Add up to 20 available, unowned cyclists and put your favourites first. You can change the list before or during the draft; changes affect future pools only. Wishlists and their order stay private, including from the admin. Adding a cyclist reserves no coins or squad places and never obliges you to bid. You can wishlist someone in the current auction, but signing them removes them from future consideration.

A fresh pool every day

The system makes two passes through players’ wishlists, taking the next eligible cyclist each time. The first player rotates each day. Duplicate selections are skipped in favour of the next name. Empty or exhausted lists are filled from a fixed UCI individual road ranking snapshot dated 18 October 2026; unranked cyclists follow alphabetically. The ranking order is frozen when the draft is scheduled. Pools contain up to two unique cyclists per league player, with fewer only if eligible riders run out. Teams with no coins or squad places contribute no wishlist picks. The pool never reveals whose wishlist a cyclist came from.

Place your sealed bids

Everyone can bid on any eligible cyclist in today’s pool, whether or not they use a wishlist. Every bid is optional. Submit 1–1,000 whole coins and edit or withdraw it until the deadline. All bids and bidder identities stay private until settlement, including from the admin. Wishlists do not bid for you, so you still need to submit bids in each round you want to enter.

Win riders, reveal results and repeat

At the deadline, the highest bidder wins each cyclist and pays their full bid. Equal highest bids use an equal-chance random draw. Losing bidders pay nothing. All submitted bids, winners and prices are revealed after settlement, and the next pool opens. Unsold cyclists sit out the next two daily rounds: a cyclist unsold in round 1 can return in round 4. Signed cyclists cannot appear again while owned. The draft finishes after round 14 without extensions.

Keep enough coins and squad places

Every active bid reserves its full amount and one squad place. All possible wins must fit your remaining budget and the 25-cyclist limit. With 100 coins, bids of 60 and 40 are allowed; 60 and 50 are not. With two squad places left, you can bid on at most two cyclists. You may spend your whole budget, even on one rider, with a warning. Settlement releases losing reservations before the next round opens. A race lineup can contain one to five cyclists.

A draft example

You add a cyclist to your wishlist. When they appear in a daily pool, you decide whether to bid. You submit 80 coins and the next-highest bid is 65: you win and pay your full 80. If someone bids 90, they win, you pay nothing and your 80 coins become available for the next auction. Adding someone to a wishlist never creates a bid.

Tied bids

If the highest bid is tied, the system randomly selects one of the highest bidders with equal probability. The winner pays their bid. Everyone else pays nothing, and their reserved coins and squad places are released. The draw is final. All bids and bidder identities are revealed after the round settles. This rule is fixed for every league.

02 / BEFORE EACH RACE

Pick your race lineup.

Your squad is your pool of riders across the season. Your lineup is the one to five riders you choose for a particular race.

Pick riders from your squad who will be competing, and match your choices to the event. A cobbled Classic calls for different riders than a Grand Tour.

Only riders in your saved lineup can score for that race. For a stage race, the same lineup covers the entire event, with no changes between stages.

Enable JavaScript to choose a practice lineup from an example squad.

More about lineups

Choose up to five for each race

Your season squad is your pool of cyclists; your race lineup is the one to five riders you select from it for one event. Save a separate lineup for every race in the calendar, choosing riders who will actually compete. You can select the same cyclist for multiple races. For a stage race, your selected riders cover the entire event, with no changes between stages. Only selected cyclists can earn your team points; everyone else in your squad sits that race out.

Save your lineup before it locks

Every lineup must contain one to five different cyclists from your own squad. You can save fewer than five when fewer of your riders are participating. Save or edit it before 00:00 Europe/Ljubljana at the start of the race’s first day — midnight before racing begins, not the start time of the race. At that deadline, lineups lock and become visible to the league. If you miss it without a saved lineup, you score zero for that race; no team is selected automatically. A selected cyclist who does not race earns no points.

03 / THROUGHOUT THE SEASON

Turn results into points.

Your selected riders earn points for their real results. Add their points together for your race score. Every race score adds to your season total.

In one-day races, points come from the final result. In stage races, riders can score from individual stages and the final overall standings. Grand Tours also award points for the final points, mountains and young rider classifications.

Scoring & points tables

Grand Tours

Every stage: points for the top 10. At the end of the race: points for the top 20 in the general classification (overall standings), plus the top three in each of the points, mountains (KOM) and young rider classifications. These final classification bonuses are awarded once, not for each day a jersey is worn.

Week tours

Every stage: points for the top 10. Final overall standings: points for the top 20. Default points are one fifth of the Grand Tour stage and overall tables. Points, mountains and young rider classifications do not score.

Monuments & other one-day races

Points go to the top 20 in the final result. Other one-day races use one fifth of the Monument table by default. There are no stage or jersey bonuses.

World Championships

The men’s road race (RR) scores the same top-20 points as a Monument. The individual time trial (ITT) scores half of the underlying Monument table at every position. Each result is rounded to the nearest whole point; halves round up. Both count towards the overall and one-day leaderboards. Select a separate lineup of up to five riders for each event.

The admin can adjust category points before the first auction round is scheduled or the first race locks; after that, scoring is fixed. Check your league’s How to play page for its scoring tables. Positions outside a scoring table earn zero; each result is rounded to the nearest whole point; halves round up.

Settlement releases losing reservations before the next round opens. A race lineup can contain one to five cyclists.

Sales take effect at the next auction

Queue a sale at any time during the daily draft, including while bidding is open. The cyclist stays on your squad, and the refund and squad place remain unavailable, until the next auction opens. The current auction settles first; sales then complete before the next pool is selected. A sale returns 50% of the purchase price, rounded down. You cannot buy the cyclist back during the same draft period. Pending sales can be cancelled in My squad until they take effect. Completed sales are final and replacements are not guaranteed. A 1-coin purchase returns 0 coins. Sales queued in the final daily round wait for pre-Giro bidding and follow the season sale limits.

Season sales wait for pre-Giro bidding

After the initial draft, you may queue season sales at any time until pre-Giro bidding opens. In 2027, all season sales complete together on May 6 at 00:00 Europe/Ljubljana. Until then, riders remain available for your race lineups and no refund or squad place is released. You may sell up to three cyclists, including pending sales, and must keep at least five. Nominations open May 5 at 00:00 and close May 6 at 00:00; each nomination reserves a mandatory 1-coin bid and squad place. Released cyclists are added to the bidding pool for other players; you cannot buy back your own releases. Bidding closes May 7 at 00:00. No new coins are added. Past and locked lineups keep their points; unlocked lineups lose the cyclist only when the sale completes. Sales close for the season when pre-Giro bidding opens. These dates apply to the supported 2027 calendar.

Keep your earned points

Selling does not remove points or cyclists from past or already locked race lineups, including when results are later corrected. The new owner can select a signing only for races whose lineup deadline has not passed. A sold cyclist is removed from your future, unlocked lineups: review each affected lineup before its deadline. Remaining selected riders still score; an empty lineup scores zero.

Add up points across the season

Your selected cyclists earn points for their real results using the race’s scoring tables below. Add their points together for your race score, then add all race scores for your season total. Stage results and final classifications accumulate, so a cyclist can score several times in one stage race. The admin enters and publishes results, and the standings update from those results. The highest total wins the overall league; equal totals share a rank. You can also follow stage-race, one-day and Grand Tour leaderboards.

The admin can adjust category points before the first auction round is scheduled or the first race locks; after that, scoring is fixed. Check your league’s How to play page for its scoring tables. Positions outside a scoring table earn zero; each result is rounded to the nearest whole point; halves round up.
